One Eyed Creature

by Kim Walker 8-22-08

Out of the darkness

Off the far road

Stepped the tall stranger

Silent he strode

One step and stop

And once more again

Grey gusts whip cloak back

Revealing the pain

Twisted and bleeding

Left leg now short

The stranger continues

His face in contort
Where has he come from this man of woe?

Out of the darkness and off the far road?

No cart is seen here.

No other man.

He carries no baggage.

I don’t think he can.

He step stops in darkness.

He can’t even see.
I would seek shelter if I were he.

For in this vast dark wood there’s a creature nearby.

They say it will find you

Even with its one eye

It hunts with its ears

So don’t make a sound

The step stopping stranger

Is sure to be found

With each step stop he makes

He gets weaker still.

If the creature won’t stop him

The pain surely will

He huffs with the effort

He thumps to the ground

A crumpled pile in old leaves and there is no sound.

Wow...thats very cool. It's rad because you get a very distinct picture in your head of this seen and this man....very ominous! I liked it.
